Signs of the Apocalypse?

Dystopian Times: Signs of the Apocalypse?

A lot seems to be going on in the world right now. It began earlier this year with the Arab Spring, revolts in Tunisia, Syria, Bahrain, Egypt and of course Libya.

The global economy has been suffering for several years now and unlike past recessions that have occurred in the last couple of decades this one is not quickly turning around and it looks like we are looking at a long-term turn around at a minimum. However, some people are suggesting that in fact, maybe we are talking about something different this time, a different economic reality. Some people refer to this as the Great Reset and it will be interesting to see how things might shake out. It’s this reality and the fear that it engenders that has inspired the Occupy Wall Street movement.

If you’re reading this page you probably are well aware of the predictions related to the Mayan Calendar and the subsequent End Times prophecies that are related to the calendar’s end. Being someone who has studied paranormal issues for almost three decades it has amazed me how widely known the Mayan Calendar End Times prophecies are, they truly seem to have pervaded the collective consciousness of the main stream population and media. All in all there is a large degree of tension existing in our culture right now and that can be very, very dangerous.

All of this reminds me of a classic episode from the Twilight Zone, a story written by Rod Serling entitled, The Monsters are Due on Maple Street (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Monsters_Are_Due_on_Maple_Street).

In this episode, a strange series of events start to happen in a neighborhood after something flies through the night sky and then the power goes out. One small boy suggests the whole event is following a comic book story of an alien invasion. Of course that’s crazy and it’s just coincidence or is it? As the neighborhood devolves into chaos the camera fades back to two aliens on the hill, “see, just cut the power and play with a couple of their machines…”

Right now America feels a little bit like Maple Street and I’m just a little bit concerned about what happens the first time in 2012 something flies through the sky.
